Hatherton Bowling Club

It is with great sadness I have to inform you of the death of Dennis Cliff who passed away this morning, Thursday 19th August. Dennis was a popular member of the Wednesday morning group and will be sorely missed by us all. Our thoughts are with Claire at this very sad time.

A warm welcome to the Hatherton Bowling Club website to players, members and Crown Green Bowlers everywhere.

The club's address is Hatherton, Four Crosses, Cannock, WS11 1RR (off the A5) and the green is situated in the grounds of the Cannock Cricket and Hockey Club formerly known as The Morris Ground and now known as Chase Park.

The Walsall and District team kept their Division Two status intact finishing third from bottom but level on points with the two teams above. The Walsall Vets A. and B. teams had good seasons with pride of place going to John Grimley’s B. team who finished as runners-up in their division in their first year. The A. team also finished as runners-up in division three. On an individual note Dave Baker was undefeated till the last game of the season. The Lichfield and District A. and B. teams had very different levels of success. The A. team finished second to last while the B. team finished as runners-up. This could mean both teams play in Division Three next season. The Stafford Vets. had a nail biting finish to the season playing their nearest rivals for survival in the last game of the season. The outcome was decided in the final game of the match. So the Vets. stay up. The Lichfield Over 50’s A. team retain their Division One status while the B. team finished a very creditable third in Division Three. In the Cannock League the outcome was in doubt up to the last games of the season. Only one team was never in contention and Hatherton A. had a hand in the outcome losing to the eventual winners in the last game. The B. team finished comfortably in the top half of the table. Finally the Stafford Island Vets. had a good season finishing in mid-table in Division Four.

Both our teams in the Cannock League reached the Cup Final in their division but unfortunately both came second.

The green opened on 28th March. The first Wednesday morning session was on 7th April.
