27th October 2011.
Twenty happy bunnies enjoyed a carvery meal with wine over at the cricket club as an end of season event for the Wednesday morning bowlers.
19th October 2011.
A very enjoyable skittles evening was attended by Neville's Tuesday evening players plus guests.
The Annual Dinner will take place on Thursday, 1st December 2011. A big thank you to Derek and Sylvia and John and Kathleen for organising.
Sorry this page has been a bit neglected of late. A very warm welcome to new members Tricia, Pam and Roger. Hope you enjoy belonging to the club.
2nd September 2009.
Twenty-four members turned up for the annual, end of season, fun day. That meant there were six groups of four on the green at all times on what was a sometimes chaotic but always enjoyable competition. There were no losers, everyone received a prize, but when the scores were added up the champagne winners were Jeanette Foster and Fred Nellist.
12th August 2009.
Apologies to all Wednesday morning social bowlers. The green was booked out to an outside party but this fact was not passed on to the people concerned myself included. I have taken steps to minimise the chance of this happening again.
10th August 2009
Despite the indifferent weather everyone enjoyed a terrific day out at the Rag. Thanks to Colin Rigby for his brilliant organisation and for all his hard work leading up to the day. The food wasn't bad either.
8th July 2009.
Wednesday mornings continue to attract a good attendance with twenty bowlers enjoying a fairly decent morning today. Best wishes to Betty Worthington who has had to forego her bowling to look after her mother during a period of poor health. Good to see Barbara Broome still supporting her friends during home matches and still in feisty mood towards her illness.
17th June 2009.
Once again everyone enjoyed a lovely day out at Shrewsbury helped by some decent weather. The green was in good condition and the buffet and refreshments were excellent. Thanks once again to Alan Westwood for organising the event and to his band of helpers for making the competition go smoothly.
At this event the members decided to switch the venue, later in the year, from Weston to The Rag for our other away-day competition.
20th May 2009.
The decent weather encouraged twenty-five bowlers to turn out this morning. Good to see Derek out and about although there'll be no bowling for a while yet. Sorry to hear Denis and Claire got washed out and blown away on their cruise round the Kyles of Bute. The new Walsall Vets B. team is made up of current social bowlers so we must mention their clean sweep against Breakaways yesterday afternoon.
The cold, wet weather kept the numbers down this morning but 14 hardy souls turned up including two of our new members. John Shaw has been registered for League bowling so hopefully he will soon be turning out for John Grimley's team.
6th May 2009.
Enquiries for membership are still coming in. Betty Worthington has been introduced by John and Kath Grimley and she has joined as a full member as has Mr S. Sheldon (sorry, no first name yet) who applied by post. Another couple made enquiries by e-mail but they are both still working full-time so the Wednesday morning session is a non-starter for them.
2nd May 2009.
The Wednesday morning social bowling is still attracting large numbers of existing members and also one or two new members. A warm welcome to Derek and Sylvia Morgan who visited the green a few times towards the end of last season and who have joined as full members this season. Unfortunately Derek has fallen over and broken his leg so it will be a few weeks before he will be back on the green. John Shaw has joined us and plans to play competitively later in the season. John has played before and wants to get to know the green before playing for points. Two ladies have joined us as new players and members. Peggy Smith and Heather Montague-Barnett have been introduced by Judy Ganecki and are gradually improving each Wednesday.
With the introduction of the Walsall Vets. B. team some of Wednesday group are now playing competition bowls. Well done to Kath Grimley who lost 18 - 21 in that team and to Peggy Slater who lost 20 - 21 away in the A team.
20th April 2011.
The Wednesday morning sessions are back in full swing with 20 bowlers on the green this morning. A warm welcome to new members Roger and Glenys Worthington, Ron Lakin and to visitors Helen Williams and Marie Dean. We hope Helen will join us before long. Some of our Wednesday bowlers have made the jump to League bowling with some success, they can only improve with experience. Welcome back to all our regular social bowlers.
